Bingham, led by managing partner Steve Browne, represented Oracle Corp. in its acquisition of Corente Inc., a cloud-based software company. The deal keeps alive Oracle’s multibillion-dollar buyout streak that stretches back to 2011 and covers more than a dozen transactions made by the California tech giant. The deal marks the latest effort by Oracle to bolster its cloud-computing offerings and to cash in as companies increasingly turn to web-based data storage rather than data centers and other physical operations. New Jersey-based Corente boasts a technology that allows IT service providers to freely deliver and share applications between multiple public and private cloud data centers and geographies in a process known as virtualization. The Bingham team also included partners Russ Isaia and Lou Rodriques; counsel Gitte Blanchet and Tom Gray; and associates Ryan Sykora and Carrie French. The proposed transaction is subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
