As part of an international transaction, Buse Heberer Fromm, together with the US law firm VedderPrice, advised WILO SE on their acquisition of the pump manufacturers Weil Pump Company, Inc., Scot Pump Company, and Karak Machine Corporation by way of an asset deal.
The three companies with around 140 employees are based and have their production facilities in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. The acquisition was made through WILO USA LLC, a subsidiary of WILO SE. All parties involved have agreed to not disclose any information concerning the amount of the purchase price.
WILO SE is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pumps and pump systems for building services engineering, industry and the entire water management sector. The company, which achieved sales of EUR 1.3 billion in 2015, is heavily involved in research and development. WILO, which is based in Dortmund, is steadily changing itself from a component supplier to a systems supplier. WILO is internationally reputed for its high technology in the pump segment. The company is supported by more than 7,400 employees in over 60 subsidiaries worldwide.
With this acquisition, the WILO Group is implementing an important part of its intensified globalization strategy and strengthening its US operations in the market segments of building services and industry.
The acquired companies specialize in wastewater and drainage pumps as well as being original equipment suppliers, mainly for the plastics, agricultural and chemical industries. They also sell special pumps for shipbuilding via a branch office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
