The Charles Russell Sports group advised Brighton on its signing of Almeria striker Leonardo Ulloa. The 26-year-old Argentine has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the Championship club. Ulloa, who scored 29 goals for the Spanish second division side last season and represented a major acquisition for the ambitious Championship club.
Brighton boss, Gus Poyet, said of the transfer, "I know him from Argentina and I follow Spanish football closely so I have been aware of him for a while. The problem was that he was not available because he didn't have a European passport. However that situation has changed since the last transfer window. As soon as we knew there was a chance of getting the passport sorted, the recruitment system moved very quickly."
Ian Lynam, lead Partner from Charles Russell, said "This was a complicated transaction with many moving parts. After a lot of work from all parties, international clearance eventually came through with 40 minutes to spare before registration closed for Brighton's FA Cup tie against Arsenal. The work paid off as "The Cyclone" scored on his debut although Arsenal did eventually come out on top".
The Charles Russell team comprised Ian Lynam (partner) and Chris Evans (associate).
