The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has reached an extensive agreement with the non-profit Dieter Schwarz Foundation for the endowment of 20 new economic science professorships with complete equipment and infrastructure. The international law firm Clifford Chance advised TUM on this revolutionary agreement.
The endowment is one of the most important in German university history: 13 of the new professorships will be located on the new TUM Campus Heilbronn, seven professorships will strengthen the TUM School of Management in Munich. With the TUM Campus Heilbronn, TUM is the first German university with its own campus in another federal state.
In their cooperation, TUM and the Dieter Schwarz Foundation are breaking new ground in several ways. The financing of the 20 professorships is initially planned for 30 years and also includes equipment and operating expenses, while the 13 endowed professorships in Heilbronn even include a building infrastructure on the Heilbronn education campus.
The foundation of the 20 professorships will not be bound by any conditions. The foundation agreement follows the TUM Fundraising Code of Conduct.
The foundation contract provides the Heilbronn High-Tech Region with a university institution under the name of the prestigious TUM. At the same time, the TUM School of Management becomes the largest business administration faculty in Germany. The foundation's professorships will focus on digitisation, family businesses and start-ups.
