Clifford Chance advises on the partnership agreement for the replacement of 29 dams on the Aisne and Meuse

Waterways of France (VNF) was concluded on 24 October 2013, with the creation of a joint venture company BAMEO by VINCI Concessions, Shema , and SOC 43. It is a partnership contract for the reconstruction of dams Aisne and Meuse

The contract covers the financing, design , construction or upgrading , operation, maintenance and renewal of 29 large, maintenance automated dams (and associated equipment ) on the Aisne and Meuse rivers as well as the already constructed Givet and Monthermé dams. It also focuses on the deconstruction of dams to be replaced by dams with hydropower potential .

The project is part of the program of renovation and modernization of water and works entrusted to VNF channels. It aims to improve water management in order to secure water levels for different uses (navigation, water supply, industrial use ... ) and also aims to end situations of difficult and dangerous work for the agents ' operatingd today manuals dams.

With a 30 years lifespan, the cost of the project amounts to 312 million euros .

Fundingd to the tune of about 280 million euros has been supplied by KfW IPEX -Bank GmbH, Societe Generale , Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Ltd. . and The Bank of Tokyo -Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. .

Branch Savings Fund ( DFE ) of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations have participated in financing the project to the tune of about 70 million euros .

Clifford Chance advised the DFE with Benjamin Blegiers , Counsel, and Charles Roy Bates funding Gauthier and Martin (senior) in public law.
