DAC Beachcroft Completes Record Acquisition for Curo in Bath

21 May 2013

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has advised Curo on one of the most significant acquisitions ever undertaken by the leading social landlord in a deal set to provide 700 new homes in Bath.

The firm provided strategic advice to Curo on its multi-million pound purchase of former Ministry of Defence (MoD) offices at Foxhill.

The 19-hectare brownfield site, similar in size to Bath's Royal Victoria Park, was vacated by the MoD in 2012 and will now be redeveloped for new housing and community facilities to help meet Bath & North East Somerset Council housing targets to 2026.

Real Estate partner Ashley Dewar led a Residential Development team for DAC Beachcroft with support from associate Ben Pariser and solicitor Frances Keenan.

Commenting on the deal, DAC Beachcroft's Ashley Dewar, said: "We were delighted to advise Curo on a purchase of the scale of Foxhill and a development that will undoubtedly be of major, long-term significance to the local community in Bath and beyond."

He added: "Having worked alongside Curo for some time on Bath Western Riverside, this appointment was further testament both to that relationship and to the strength and depth of DAC Beachcroft's Residential Development team. We look forward to working with Curo again on future projects."

Curo is one of the largest social landlords in the West of England with 12,000 homes across the Bath and Bristol area. Chief Executive Victor da Cunha said: "This venture gives us a real opportunity to create an exciting, sustainable development and to work with the local community to provide wider benefits for the Foxhill neighbourhood.”
