Dechert LLP advised Orange, one of the world’s leading telecommunications operators, in the sale of its entire 70% stake in Telkom Kenya to Helios Investment Partners.

Telkom Kenya is the country’s incumbent fixed-line operator and is the third player in the mobile market. In accordance with the agreement signed in November 2015 between Orange and Helios Investment Partners, and following the approbation of the relevant authorities, Orange completed on 10 June 2016 the sale of its entire 70% stake in Telkom Kenya.

The Africa and Middle-East region remains a strategic priority for the Group. This divestment reflects Orange's constant focus on optimizing its portfolio of assets.

The Paris based Corporate team advising Orange was led by partner François Hellot, assisted by associate Guillaume Briant and associate Judith Malka, together with the assistance of London based partner Simon Briggs and associate Mike Jarrett on English law matters.

Partners Richard Harney, Angela Waki and Joyce Karanja-Ng’ang’a from Kenyan firm Coulson Harney advised Orange on Kenyan law matters.
