Dentons helps achieve Private Rented Sector success in Newham, East London

31 Jul 2017

Dentons has assisted Linkcity in securing consent for its joint venture Private Rented Sector (PRS) scheme at Pontoon Dock in Newham, East London, with Grainger plc as long-term investor-operator, the London Pensions Fund Authority as funder, and the Greater London Authority (GLA) as landowner.

The scheme is set across three buildings of up to 14 storeys, with 154 private rented apartments and 82 affordable homes. As well as being designed specifically for rent and including residents’ amenities, the scheme will provide improved access to the adjacent Thames Barrier Park.

Oliver Campbell, Development Director at Linkcity, said, “We are excited to work with our partners to bring another PRS project to life, as well as providing much-needed affordable housing. The scheme marks another milestone in the continued regeneration of the Royal Docks with new shops, landscaping and improved access to the Park.

“The Dentons team provided high-quality advice to help us overcome the legal difficulties and obstacles involved in multi-party deals, with a robust planning consent as a result.”

Dentons Planning partner Roy Pinnock added, "The scheme shows how partnership working between developer, owner, operator and local and Mayoral planning authorities can achieve the balanced growth London needs."

The team advising Linkcity was led by Real Estate partner Richard Budge and Planning partner Roy Pinnock, with support from senior associate Emma Frost and associate Lucy McDonnell.
