Dentons Morocco advises Casa Transports on the new operating agreement of the Casablanca tramway network extension

22 Sep 2017

Dentons advised Casa Transports on the drafting, procurement and negotiation of the new public transport’s network operating agreement for the city of Casablanca for 2017-2019.

The signed contract follows on the launch of an international request for proposal launched by Casa Transports in June 2016 for which the final offer presented by RATP Dev was awarded to the local government of the city of Casablanca. The new contract, which includes the commissioning and operation of a global and integrated network includes, in addition to the first line of the existing tramway line, five new tramway lines as well as two lines of high-quality service buses (HQSB or bus à haut niveau de services), a key project in the African urban transport landscape. In 2022, the transport network for the city of Casablanca will comprise 76 kilometres of tramway lines and 22 kilometres of HQSB.

Patrick Larrivé, managing partner of Dentons in Morocco, said, "This transaction is a key project for the city of Casablanca. The extension of Casablanca’s public transport is a sound example of a successful public transport network extension, the biggest in Africa.”

The team was led by Patrick Larrivé, counsel Louis Dubois and associate Agathe Martin in Casablanca.

Espelia advised Casa Transports on the financial aspects and Erea Conseil advised on the technical aspects.
