DLA Piper has been advising Alfresco, an open platform for enterprise content management (ECM) and collaboration, on the takeover of WeWebU Software AG, a supplier of content-centred business applications. Alfresco is rounding off its portfolio for content solutions through the acquisition.
Founded in 2005, the London- and Atlanta-based software company Alfresco is one of the leading suppliers of open-source ECM technology. The platform developed by Alfresco enables companies to share, organize and protect their content. Over seven million users in more than 180 countries are currently taking advantage of the Alfresco range in order to cooperate with other people and manage more than four billion files.
WeWebU Software AG, headquartered in Herzogenaurach, supplies document-centred business applications based on the most important ECM platforms by IBM and Alfresco as well as all CMS-compatible ECM systems, thus allowing efficient content management to be achieved across computing centres as well as the hydrid cloud and mobile applications.
The team from DLA Piper under the management of counsel Dr Michael Sörgel (Corporate, Cologne) also included counsel Marcus Kamp and the associates Julia Tilkorn (both Employment, Cologne) and Dr Marc von Kopp (Corporate, Cologne).
Inhouse the general counsel Jennifer Venable acted for Alfresco in the areas of commercial and IT.
