DLA Piper advises Bancobet on Joint Venture with Digibet

DLA Piper has advised the Bancobet Group, a fully integrated technology company in the gaming industry  headquartered in Gibraltar, on the consolidation of its business operations with the Digibet Group; a group of companies in the gaming industry. A joint venture company is being founded for this purpose which will operate under the name, 'United Game Tech'.  and is based in Malta. The newly created group combines the companies of the Digibet/Bancobet Group in order to assume a leading role in the gaming industry.

The Bancobet Group has developed a leading software platform for the sale of sports bets, various hardware components and business models for customer acquisition and loyalty. On the basis of a Maltese licence, it also offers sports bets to end customers via a subsidiary company and white-label software solutions for the gaming industry.

The focus of operational business activity for the Digibet Group is Germany. Having emerged from one of the oldest family-run bookmaking companies in Germany, the Digibet Group offers sports bets and other games of chance to end customers on the basis of a Gibraltarian licence.

The DLA Piper team was led by partner Dr Kai Tumbrägel (IPT, Cologne), and included partner Dr Cornelius Frie and senior associate Timo Betjeman (both Corporate, Cologne), senior associate Dr Stephanie Rohlfing (IPT, Cologne), as well as partner Ben Gillespie and legal consultant James Carter (both Corporate, Dubai).
