DLA Piper has advised the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) in connection with Epuron's Yulara Solar project in the Northern Territory. This is the second deal CEFC has closed with Epuron - having also financed the recently completed Uterne expansion.
Epuron subsidiary, Yulara Solar, selected CPS National as its engineer, procure and construct contractor. Once the assets are installed, Epuron will provide solar energy under a long-term agreement with the resort’s owners, Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, which is wholly owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC), a corporate Commonwealth entity.
The impact of this transaction is significant for Voyages and the Yulara community. The 1.8MW roof and ground mounted off-grid solar PV project will directly replace diesel and gas generated power and will create opportunities for the local population in ongoing operation and maintenance.
The deal achieved financial close in August 2015. The DLA Piper team was led by Finance and Projects senior associate Kate Papailiou with partner Onno Bakker, with support on project documentation from partner Dan Brown and senior associate Chris Case.
Kate Papailiou said: "We're delighted to have assisted the CEFC on such an important project, particular for the symmetry in implementing a clean energy solution with the objectives of Voyages, and its parent, the Indigenous Land Corporation."
