DLA Piper represented Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) in its acquisition of SGI, a high-performance computing (HPC) and big data analytics company. The transaction, which is valued at approximately US$275 million, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2017.
SGI products and services are used for HPC and big data analytics in the scientific, technical, business and government communities. The acquisition strengthens HPE’s position in the mission-critical and HPC segments of the server market.
Led by partner Victoria Lee, global co-chair of DLA Piper’s Technology Sector, the firm advised HPE with respect to open source-related matters. Associate Nicole Albertson also assisted on the deal.
