DLA Piper has advised Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, (SMIC) on its new share placement and perpetual subordinated convertible securities issuance, which raised approximately USD972 million (assuming all pre-emptive rights are exercised).
This is the highest amount raised since its initial public offering, the successful offering reflecting the strong confidence from domestic and global institutional investors. The deal was managed by JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and Barclays.
SMIC operates one of the world's leading semiconductor foundries. It provides integrated circuit foundry and technology services including the testing, development, design, manufacturing, packaging, and sale of integrated circuits. Its products and services are available around the world, and the proceeds will be used for capacity expansion and other general corporate purposes.
