DLA Piper has advised German internet service provider 1 & 1 Internet SE, a subsidiary of the United Internet Group, on its acquisition of Austrian web hoster, World4You. 1 & 1 Internet SE acquired the total shares in World4You, and the company will be managed independently, with founder Johannes Kührer remaining on board as Managing Director.

World4You is the leading hosting provider in Austria, managing more than 250,000 websites for 100,000 customers. Headquartered in Linz, Austria, it employs 35 staff. United Internet is a leading European Internet services company headquartered in Montabaur, Germany. It employs 9,000 staff, 3,000 of which specialise in product management, development and data centers. Among their best-known retail brands are 1&1, yourfone, smartmobile.de, GMX and WEB.DE.

The mandate was secured by Dr. Nils Krause, DLA Piper's client relationship partner for United Internet AG 1 & 1 Internet SE. The team in Vienna was led by Corporate partner, Dr. Christoph Mager, supported by counsel, Johanna Höltl, senior associate, Valerie Kramer, and associate, Tugce Yalcin. They were assisted by Intellectual Property & Technology partner, Sabine Fehringer, and senior associate, Stefan Panic.
