DLA Piper represented Groupon, the global leader in local commerce, in its acquisition of Swarm Solutions Inc., a San Francisco-based venture-backed technology company that provides an analytics and customer engagement platform for brick-and-mortar retail businesses.

Founded in 2012 by Rudd Davis and Ryan Denehy, Swarm utilizes Bluetooth, infrared and Wi-Fi technology to track user behavior and deliver targeted promotions on smartphones. Swarm’s team will join Groupon’s Mobile Operating System organization in San Francisco and will continue to develop its product portfolio and partner roster, including integrations with a number of leading point-of-sale providers.
