Eversheds advises Four Seasons on care home portfolio acquisition

15 Apr 2014

Eversheds has advised Four Seasons Healthcare (Four Seasons), the UK’s leading independent elderly care provider, on the acquisition of seven homes from Majesticare, a privately owned care group with a portfolio of 16 premium homes which primarily serve self funded clients.

Since its acquisition in 2012 by private equity house, Terra Firma, Four Seasons has experienced significant growth, expanding its portfolio to 450 care homes and 60 hospitals. The care provider recently announced a strategy to develop a private care division that will provide high quality elderly care, together with hotel standard services and activities programmes, designed to offer care as a life enhancing choice.

The Eversheds team was led by partner Simon Masters, with support from senior associate Nicola Brookes and associate Katie Crocker. Partners Nick Swiss and Nigel Dale and associates Marie-Charlotte Chambers and Jessica Burgess advised Four Seasons on funding the acquisition.

Simon said:

“This is the third significant acquisition by Four Seasons in two years, showing the company’s commitment to being the UK’s leading care provider. Developments in the healthcare sector over the past few years have created a wealth of opportunities for private care providers and Four Season’s ongoing strategy to deliver exceptional services via an expansive property portfolio will stand them in good stead for the future.”

Dominic Kay, Four Seasons’ commercial director commented:

“We are determined to lead the sector for quality and value and are delighted to have completed this acquisition. Eversheds is our trusted long term adviser and it is always reassuring to have the Eversheds team helping us to achieve our strategic goals.”
