Global law firm Eversheds has advised West Nottinghamshire College on a training deal with education company Pearson Plc which will increase the College’s vocational training capabilities.
As part of the deal, activity previously overseen by Pearson in Practice, the vocational training arm of Pearson Plc, has been transferred over to the college, expanding its apprenticeship and work-related training provision. The college has taken over the training of approximately 4,000 apprentices and work-based learners previously with Pearson in Practice; this new provision will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of the college to be known as Vision Workforce Skills. Training will be offered at strategic locations across the country from Newcastle to Southampton.
The Eversheds team provided corporate, employment and real estate advice on the deal with partner Nicola Bennison leading on the HR issues, corporate partner Mark Satterly co-ordinating the acquisition and senior associate Stacy Aspden managing the real estate work.
Mark said:
“Vocational training services are an important career pathway in the UK and this deal enables the College to diversify its offering as a national training provides, and strengthen its position in the local area.”
Asha Khemka OBE, Chief Executive and Principal at West Nottinghamshire College, said:
“This cements the college’s position as one of the country’s leading providers of workforce development programmes and significantly enhances our national reach in terms of employer engagement. The Eversheds team’s expertise was invaluable during this process.”
