Hamburg, 4 April 2013 – Field Fisher Waterhouse has advised the Belgian rail freight group SNCB Logistics on the sale of three barging companies to the Austrian Felbermayr group. A Hamburg Field Fisher Waterhouse team under the lead of partner Dr Florian Streiber acted as advisers to the seller in all questions of corporate, competition and real estate law.

With retroactive effect as of 1 January 2013, Felbermayr Holding GmbH takes over all shares in the German companies H&S Container Line GmbH and Haeger & Schmidt International GmbH. In addition, Felbermayr acquires  61.46 percent of shares in the Belgian RKE N.V.; the remaining stakes are held by ThyssenKrupp. All corporations will continue to be looked after by the existing management.

Felbermayr succeeded in a bidding process. The family run business established in 1942 operates with around 2500 members of staff in 15 countries and focuses on transport and lift techniques as well as construction.

The transaction is part of SNCB Logistics' strategy to return to a focus on its core business, rail freight.
