Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) has advised CA Technologies (‘CA’) on its acquisition of Automic, the international leader in business automation software, from EQT, an alternative investments firm. The transaction, valued at approximately €600m net of cash and cash equivalents, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of CA’s fiscal year.
CA is one of the world’s leading providers of IT management software and solutions. It is headquartered in the US and is NASDAQ listed. It specialises in software that fuels transformation for companies and enables them to seize the opportunities of the application economy. The Automic Group is headquartered in Vienna, Austria, with offices in Paris, Asia Pacific Japan and Bellevue, Washington, and creates software that drives competitive advantage by automating IT and business processes.
Commenting on the transaction, Freshfields partner Konrad Gröller said, “This transaction covered multiple jurisdictions in Europe, Asia and the US, which played to the strength of our team that could deliver seamless cross-border advice with a particular focus on the requirements of a US headquartered investor”.
