Hogan Lovells acts for Kings Cross Central Limited Partnership on its reinvention and opening of Coal Drops Yard

02 Nov 2018

A team of real estate lawyers at Hogan Lovells has acted for King's Cross Central Limited Partnership on the reinvention and opening of Coal Drops Yard.

The team, led by Real Estate Partner Gill McGreevy and Counsel Stella Bliss at Hogan Lovells, secured and completed the letting of all the live units at the Heatherwick Studio re-designed shopping and lifestyle district, which officially opened for business on 26th October 2018.

Commenting, Gill McGreevy said: "We were delighted to act on behalf of our longstanding client, King's Cross Central Limited Partnership on such a major addition to London's retail and leisure landscape; an impressive feat in the current retail environment.

"In a changing retail world, centres continue to have a vital role to play as we move towards an "experience economy". Coal Drop Yards is a prime example of this, offering retailers the chance to reinvent and redefine their customer experience in a unique and impressive setting."

Anna Strongman, Coal Drops Yard Development Manager and Partner at Argent, said: “Coal Drops Yard is an amazing achievement, a bold vision delivered by a dedicated team with a diverse set of skills. Hogan Lovells has been a key partner for us throughout the project, and their team have been integral to helping us create this vital new part of the King’s Cross experience.”

The buildings, which lie in the heart of Kings Cross, were once key to powering Victorian London. It will now be home to 100,000 sq ft of shops and restaurants, with further stores due to open over the coming weeks.
