News Corp announced today that it plans to move its entire London operations to a single location in The Place on the Southbank of the Thames, alongside The Shard in the heart of the London Bridge Quarter. Hogan Lovells represented News Corp in this transaction.
The Hogan Lovells team was led by real estate partner Dion Panambalana with senior associates Simon Keen, Paul Tonkin and associate Edward Newport. They were supported and assisted by Chair Nicholas Cheffings, with construction aspects being dealt with by partner Gillian Thomas and of Counsel Rosemary Miller. Planning support was given from David Wood and trainee Lydia Kelly.
Dion Panambalana, who is the 'go-to' lawyer for real estate work for News Corp in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, commented: "We acted for News Corp relocating them from Wapping to their current location in Thomas More Square and we are delighted to have been able to assist them again in this move to an iconic location where, for the first time, they can bring together all of their locally based business and staff. We very much look forward to continuing to work with News Corp in the years to come."
Speaking about the move, Robert Thomson Chief Executive of News Corp, said: "Our new London location in the vibrant Borough of Southwark will allow us to realise one core objective as the new News Corp – to work more closely and creatively, and leverage our collective resources."
Speaking about Hogan Lovells' role, Paul Chinnery News' UK General Counsel said: "Hogan Lovells' technical excellence and depth of experience was a given. What we really appreciated in working with Dion Panambalana, Simon Keen and the rest of the team has been their commercial input, pragmatism, accessibility and non-stuffy approach; a class act and a pleasure to work with."
A team from Eversheds, led by Nick Bartlett and Helen Robinson, acted for the Sellar Group who own The Place.
