Insula becomes majority shareholder in Amanda Seafoods

Amanda Seafoods, one of the very first producers of canned seafood in Denmark, has today announced the sale of a majority of its shares to Insula, a Norwegian seafood supplier.

Amanda Seafoods has over the last decade seen an impressive development, and the company is in one of the strongest positions it has been in its more than 100 years in the sea food business.

With the introduction of Insula as majority shareholder, Amanda Seafoods takes the next step towards its ambitious growth objectives and becomes part of one the strongest fishing portfolios in the Nordic region. The acquisition of Amanda Seafoods marks Insula’s first investment in Denmark.

Insula AS was established in 2015. Through a portfolio of solid and tradition-rich companies, Insula builds strong, multidisciplinary expertise related to processing and sale of seafood. Its business strategy is to be a complete seafood supplier to the consumer market, with the Nordic area considered its home market.

Amanda Seafoods A/S was founded by Mr. Chr. Hansen in Kerteminde in 1916 under the trademark 555. The Company was one of the very first producers of canned seafood in Denmark. Today, Amanda Seafoods is headquartered in Frederikshavn in the very North of Denmark.
