King & Wood Mallesons has advised Star Capital Partners (Star Capital) on the acquisition of Globalways AG, a Stuttgart based IT services and infrastructure business.
Star Capital is a leading European fund manager which has invested in a large number of industrial or infrastructure enterprises since 2000. This transaction continues Star Capital’s successful track record of identifying capital-intensive businesses with high potential to generate long-term and highly stable cash flows. At times of steadily-increasing needs for data storage Star Capital is planning to significantly grow the infrastructure owned and operated by Globalways. The new data centres to be established throughout Germany will be operating under the brand “Datacenter One”.
Globalways AG is one of the leading German IT infrastructure providers and offers solutions in the fields of IT infrastructure, housing, hosting and corporate networks at the highest technical level. With its own fibre optic network and a number of high performance data centres, Globalways AG is the biggest commercial data centre operator in Stuttgart and the region.
The previous management of Globalways AG continues to hold an interest in the company. The parties agreed not to disclose the value of the transaction.
The King & Wood Mallesons team was led by Corporate partner Dr Michiel Huizinga. The team advised Star Capital on all legal and regulatory aspects as well as on the development of the transaction structure.
King & Wood Mallesons has been advising Star Capital for many years and has established a long-standing relationship with the client. Previous transactions include the sale of pepcom as well as the acquisition of Blohm + Voss Group and the subsequent sale of its subsidiaries.
