King & Wood Mallesons advises Arcano Capital on the structuring of its first venture fund

16 Nov 2017

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised Arcano Capital on the structuring of its first venture fund, Arcano Ventures, with a target size of USD 200 million. Arcano joined forces with the US investment firm Urizen on this project.

Arcano Ventures is aimed at investment in IT companies with high potential growth and, especially, companies focused on new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence based in Silicon Valley (US), where most of these companies are located.

Isabel Rodríguez, head of Funds at King & Wood Mallesons – Madrid, coordinated the advice to Arcano Capital. For Isabel “this is great momentum for the Spanish venture capital sector. During the last few months we have seen the great appetite of international investors in the Spanish market. Now, with this alliance between Arcano and Urizen, there is a consolidation of the international positioning of Spanish venture funds”.

Arcano Capital is one of the leading private equity firms in Spain, with more than EUR 3,500 million assets under management.

Urizen Ventures is an investment firm led by Adeyemi Ajao, co-founder of Tuenti, Cabify and Identified; and TJ Nahigian, founder of Jobr and investor in Accel Partners, Summit Partners and Coatue.
