King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) have advised Macquarie Group on the debt and equity funding for its $8.2 billion purchase of Esanda.
The purchase will see Macquarie's motor vehicle finance assets climb to $17 billion, from $9 billion.
The KWM equity capital markets team comprised partners Evie Bruce and David Eliakim and senior associates Henrik Moritz, Andrew Phillipson, Scott Phillips and solicitor John Arthur. The KWM banking team included partner Ken Astridge, senior associate John Eagleton and solicitors June Guo and Susie Nguyen.
Evie Bruce said, “We are very pleased to have had this opportunity to assist Macquarie on the funding of the purchase of the Esanda portfolio. The fact that the placement priced at a premium to the pre-announcement trading price shows how positively the market views both the deal and the Group’s performance generally.”
