Topsil Semiconductor Materials A/S and GlobalWafers Co. Ltd. enter into agreement on GlobalWafers’ acquisition of the silicon activities of Topsil.

LETT Law Firm advised Topsil on the structured sales process involving a wide range of potential industrial buyers and equity funds. The value of the silicon deal is DKK 320m.

Danish Topsil with subsidiaries in Poland and Japan is a world leading supplier of silicon to the global semiconductor industry. Taiwanese GlobalWafers is one of the 6 largest silicon wafer manufacturers in the world and has been trading with Topsil for almost 20 years. The agreement will enhance Topsil’s worldwide distribution platform.
 
The agreement is conditional upon approval by the competition authorities and approval at a Topsil extraordinary general meeting. Closing is expected to take place in early July 2016.
