Linklaters advises Ardian on its joint investment with Rabbalshede Kraft in a new wind farm in Sweden to supply Google with clean energy

04 Jul 2016

Linklaters advised Ardian in its joint venture with Rabbalshede Kraft, independent Swedish producer of clean energy, to invest in a 76 MW wind farm in Mariestad and Töreboda in Sweden, one of the regions best suited for onshore wind farm construction in Europe.

The project is 75% owned by Ardian and 25% by Rabbalshede Kraft.

In pursuit of its goal of powering all of its activities with renewable energy, Google has already signed a long-term purchase agreement for all of the energy produced by the wind farm. It will also sell Renewable Energy Certificates.

The Linklaters team for this project was led by Bruno Derieux, a partner within the Corporate practice specialised in M&A. He is supported by Pierre Thomet, counsel, and Benjamin Prévost, external partner; as well as François April, associate in the new ventures department, Samuel Bordeleau and Nathanaël Caillard, external partners, and Edouard Chapellier, associate in the tax department; as well as external partner Alexandra Mourlon. In the fields of Swedish and Luxembourg law, the Paris office also worked closely with Elisabet Lundgren and Nicolas Gauzès, corporate associates in the Stockholm and Luxembourg offices, respectively, and their teams.

Other consulting bodies involved include: Kallista Energy (technology and legal), MAQS and Wigge (legal), Ernst & Young (tax) and Sweco (technology, environment and markets).

The Linklaters team in Paris is known for its experience in the renewable energy sector, both in M&A and in new ventures/financing and tax matters. It regularly provides support for investors, sponsors and banks for large-scale operations.
