Linklaters advises on Thailand’s largest public M&A

24 Mar 2016

Linklaters advised Groupe Casino (‘Casino Group’) on the disposal of its €3.1 billion stake in Big C Supercenter PCL (‘Big C’), a listed company in Thailand, to one of the subsidiaries of the TCC group, the Berli Jucker PCL Group. This is one of the largest public M&A transactions in Thailand to date.

Pichitpon Eammongkolchai, the lead partner on the transaction, said:

“In 2010, we also advised Casino Group and Big C on the acquisition by Big C of Carrefour’s operations in Thailand. This is yet another significant and strategic transaction for Casino Group and it is a privilege to be advising them once again.”

He added:

“We had to be highly efficient: kick-off to signing took less than three weeks and the transaction completed yesterday.”

Big C is a leader in food retail and commercial real estate in Thailand, operating a large network of more than 700 stores, including 125 hypermarkets, with a turnover of € 3.4 billion in 2015.

The Linklaters team was also led by Counsel, Sutthipong Koohasaneh, with support from Managing Associate, Sonya Kalnin. Teams from Linklaters’ Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong and Amsterdam offices also supported this transaction.
