Sydney, Australia, 20 May 2016 – Baker & McKenzie successfully acted for Macquarie Capital (Australia) Limited and UBS AG, Australia Branch as joint lead managers and underwriters of the A$107m fully underwritten institutional placement by Mantra Group Limited.

Mantra Group Limited is the largest Australian based hotel and resort marketer and operator, offering over 19,500+ rooms under management for owners in properties across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.

Lead partner on the deal, Lauren Magraith stated: "The proceeds of the placement will be used by Mantra Group to fund the acquisition of ALM Management Services LLC, which operates the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. We were delighted to act for our longstanding clients Macquarie and UBS on this transaction, having also advised on Mantra Group's initial public offering in 2014."

Ala Moana Hotel is a landmark hotel in Honolulu and located next to Ala Moana Center, the world's largest open-air shopping mall.

This transaction follows Baker & McKenzie's recent roles in advising APN News & Media on their $180 million entitlement offer announced last week, the joint lead managers on the $135m institutional placement and selldown by Aconex Limited, the joint lead managers on the A$494m entitlement offer by Qube Holdings Limited, to fund Qube's participation in the c. A$9bn takeover of Asciano Limited, and the joint lead managers on the $405m entitlement offer by Spark Infrastructure, to fund Spark Infrastructure's participation in the A$10.258bn acquisition of TransGrid.
