Mayer Brown advised Commerzbank AG as arranger and other banks on the establishment of a new debt issuance program for the issuance of senior unsecured notes with a volume of up to EUR 5 billion Euro as well as on the first successful placement of notes issued by Eurogrid GmbH under the issuance program in the amount of EUR 500 million.
The notes have a term of ten years and bear interest of 1.875 per cent per annum. The notes were admitted to trading on the regulated market of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
The banking consortium for the first issuance included Commerzbank AG, Coöperatieve Centrale Raiffeisen-Boerenleenbank B.A. (Rabobank), Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen Girozentrale and The Royal Bank of Scotland plc.
Located in Berlin, Eurogrid GmbH is a company in the energy sector. It is parent company for 50Hertz, an electricity transmission system operator for north and east Germany which is also responsible for the electricity connection for offshore wind parks in the Baltic Sea. The company plans investments of around EUR 5.4 billion within the next ten years, especially for the further expansion and restructuring of the transmission grid including the connection of offshore wind parks in the Baltic Sea.
