Mayer Brown JSM advises solar panel project developer Asia Clean Capital on joint venture with EDF Energies Nouvelles

02 Mar 2018

Mayer Brown JSM represented Asia Clean Capital (ACC), a leading clean energy solutions developer in the People’s Republic of China (PRC), in its joint venture with EDF Energies Nouvelles, a renewables-focused subsidiary of the world’s largest electricity company EDF Group.

Through this joint venture, the parties plan to develop a portfolio of distributed solar projects across China. The partnership will build on ACC’s work in the country to provide multinational and domestic firms with sustainable and cost-efficient rooftop solar systems, with its services ranging from support on project costs, designs, engineering and equipment to maintenance, governmental approvals and installations.

The Mayer Brown JSM team was led by Corporate & Securities partner Mark R. Uhrynuk and included Banking & Finance partner Doos Choi and Corporate & Securities associate Karen Chong.

Mr. Uhrynuk commented, “ACC’s mission in China to provide corporates with state-of-the-art rooftop solar projects and green electricity that beat the market rates companies pay the local power grid embodies the country’s push to become an ‘ecological civilisation’. Drawing upon our depth of understanding and experience in cross-border corporate transactions involving China, Mayer Brown JSM’s multi-practice team was able to provide strategic counsel to ACC on this landmark transaction. The deal illustrates the global recognition ACC’s work is gaining, and will allow the company to expand its practice in China with the help of EDF Energies Nouvelles’ international experience in solar and self-consumption solutions.”
