We have advised on a £30 million hotel development close to EventCity.
The hotel will be located at the corner of Barton Dock Road and Mercury Way and will be well connected to EventCity. The development is a joint venture between Marick Capital, Topland Group and Mill Lane Estates. The contractor is Bowmer & Kirkland and the land was acquired from Peel Land and Property.
Our hotels team, led by real estate partner Caroline Hanratty, advised the joint venture vehicle on all aspects of the deal including site acquisition, the hotel management agreement with Tower Hotel Management and the hotel franchise agreement with IHG for the new Holiday Inn Express.
The project to build the 220 bed hotel started on site in July 2016 and is due to complete in Spring 2017.
The hotel is the fourth hotel development which Mills & Reeve has worked on with the team at Marick Capital and Mill Lane Estates in recent years.
In 2014/5, the team advised on a Hampton by Hilton hotel development in London’s Royal Docks. In 2013, they advised on a new Hilton hotel in Leeds and the acquisition and development of a £6 million Premier Inn.
Caroline Hanratty, who has worked closely with Mill Lane Estates director Brandon Riley for many years, said: “We are delighted to advise on this exciting new hotel development in Manchester.
“The hotel is in an excellent position to capitalise on the growing number of visitors to EventCity which is the UK’s second biggest venue outside London.” The hotel will be operated by Peel’s Tower Hotel Management.
