We have advised Urban&Civic on its acquisition of Catesby Property Group. Urban&Civic has acquired the Catesby Property Group, a strategic land company specialising in commercial property development and residential land promotion. Catesby has interests in land holdings comprising 5,300 units across 21 sites in areas of high housebuilder demand in the Home Counties and southern parts of the Midlands.
The purchase was agreed following an intense period of due diligence. Founder of Catesby Eric Grove, will act as a consultant to Urban&Civic for 24 months and all other staff, including Paul Brocklehurst, the longstanding Catesby Chief Executive, will remain with the group.
The Mills & Reeve team was led by real estate partner Christine de Ferrars Green, who said: “We are delighted to have again been able to help Urban&Civic and bring these two successful businesses together.”
Our team also included associates Joanna Davies, Dominic Hordern and Andrea Newman; senior solicitor Rachel Kent; and solicitors Amelia Lewis and Alex Pickett.
The advice follows two other high profile deals we have advised Urban&Civic on. The successful bid for a Development Management Agreement with the MoD for a new lakeside town on the former Waterbeach Barracks, and the project to transform a former airfield into Alconbury Weald, a designated Enterprise Zone site that aims to create 8,000 jobs and 5,000 new homes over the next 20 years.
