North Nottinghamshire College Acquires Hospitality Training Firm

29 Oct 2014

North Nottinghamshire College (NNC) has acquired catering and hospitality specialist Charnwood Training Group for an undisclosed sum. Irwin Mitchell’s Corporate team advises on the deal

Charnwood, which is based in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, had entered into a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) with its creditors after falling into financial difficulties earlier this year. Following the deal, the business will trade under its own name and operate as a separate company within the NNC Group.

Charnwood will continue to provide its services to the industry, including pre-employment training, hospitality and catering apprenticeships and management development programmes.

NNC Principal John Connolly said: "Charnwood will add some £4m to our group turnover. The company has a fantastic reputation in the industry, built up over many years, and is one of only a handful of private training providers nationally who are true specialists in a particular industry.

"Their acquisition adds to the range of commercial businesses already operated by the college, delivering apprenticeships and commercial training for employers in the workplace."

Corporate Partner, Andrea Cropley, along with Michael Hall from Irwin Mitchell in Sheffield advised on the deal.

Andrea Cropley We have been delighted to have supported the college with this deal and are very pleased that though its investment, it has been able to secure the continued provision of training to students and trainees.”

Michael Hall It was a pleasure to work on this important transaction for the college and I’ve no doubt that Charnwood as a company within the NNC Group will flourish in the future.”
