The London office of international legal practice Norton Rose has advised Greencoat UK Wind on a £200 million IPO.
Greencoat UK Wind is an infrastructure fund managed by Greencoat Capital. It says it has plans to raise a minimum of £205 million ($321 million) through an initial public offering that will see it list on the London Stock Exchange.
The firm, which has an option to increase the size of the issue by up to £55 million, also said on Wednesday it had signed agreements to acquire a seed portfolio of operational UK wind farms from utilities SSE and RWE.
SSE will sell four wind farms with a total generation capacity of 79.5 MW to Greencoat for £140 million and invest up to £43 million in Greencoat shares.
Norton Rose corporate partner Mike Newell said: ‘This is a milestone IPO in terms of accessing the equity capital markets for green infrastructure investment. We expect it to increase the attractions of London as a centre for renewable energy flotations.’
The Norton Rose team also included partners Stephen Rigby, Andrew Hedges and Cathy Pitt who led on the acquisition, banking finance and project finance aspects respectively.
