Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Akwa Group, a leading Moroccan energy, infrastructure and development business, on its negotiations of its shareholders’ agreement with APM Terminals (APMT), a Dutch port company and subsidiary of Danish company Maersk, in relation to Container Terminal 4 (TC4) at Tanger Med 2 port complex in Morocco.
APMT has been awarded a 30-year concession to operate the new container terminal in Tanger, through Moroccan newly created company APM Terminals MedPort Tangier, which will have an annual capacity of 4.2 million TEU. The terminal is scheduled to be completed in 2019 and will be equipped with cutting edge technologies. The investment total is approximately €760 million.
Norton Rose Fulbright previously advised Akwa on its partnership with APMT in 2005 when the Dutch company first entered the Moroccan market with the concession to operate the container terminal Tanger
