Norton Rose Fulbright advises Flughafen München GmbH on acquisition of Berlin ground handling service providers

17 Feb 2016

Norton Rose Fulbright has advised the AeroGround Group, a subsidiary wholly owned by Flughafen München GmbH, on the acquisition of two Berlin ground handling service providers by AeroGround Berlin GmbH.

AeroGround Berlin purchased all shares in Acciona Airport Services, Berlin GmbH as well as HSD Flughafen GmbH from the Spanish Acciona Group. The Norton Rose Fulbright team provided legal and structural advice throughout the transaction.

Acciona Berlin is one of two licensed ground handling service providers for Berlin Tegel Airport. In combination with HSD, Acciona Berlin has approximately 350 employees. With this acquisition, AeroGround Berlin will now hold the ground handling license for Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport and additionally Berlin Tegel Airport. As the license automatically applies to the new Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER) it enables AeroGround Berlin to create the best prerequisites for its presence upon opening.

The Munich team was led by corporate partner Alexander von Bergwelt and included Florian Breitreiner, Sandra Weyrich (all corporate/M&A) and Matthias Nordmann (antitrust law).
