Norton Rose Fulbright advises Greencoat on Kildrummy wind farm acquisition

04 Jul 2014

Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Greencoat UK Wind plc (Greencoat), the London-listed renewable infrastructure fund, on its acquisition of the 18.4MW Kildrummy Wind Farm located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, for approximately £43.3 million from BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH (BayWa), a subsidiary of the BayWa Group (the German listed agriculture, building materials and energy group).

Kildrummy was developed by Npower Renewables and constructed by BayWa. Norton Rose Fulbright had also advised Greencoat on the acquisitions of Cotton Farm and Earl’s Hall Farm from BayWa in October 2013.

Following the acquisition of Kildrummy, and also of a further wind farm at Maerdy in South Wales, Greencoat will have a net generating capacity of 226.4 MW.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led by corporate, M&A and securities partner, Stephen Rigby, and included Keith Law and Joshua Temkin (corporate), Simon Currie and Helen Winward (banking) and Andrew Hedges, Suncica Miletic and Angela Fletcher (projects).

In April 2014, Norton Rose Fulbright advised RWE Innogy on its £220 million sale of a stake in the Gwynt y Mor offshore wind farm to UK Green Investment Bank.
