Norton Rose Fulbright advises Lesieur on its expansion in Africa

23 Mar 2017

Norton Rose Fulbright has advised French group Avril in relation to the setting-up of a mayonnaise factory in Algeria for its flagship brand Lesieur. This operation necessitated the creation of a joint-venture with local agribusiness group Djadi. The memorandum of understanding was signed on July 27, 2016 and the articles of association were signed in February 2017.

This marks the next step for growth for Groupe Avril in Algeria and follows the establishment of an animal food production plant in the country. The agribusiness group thus strengthens its presence and development strategy in Africa.

Alain Malek, corporate M&A partner comments: “This transaction reflects a growing appetite for foreign investment in the Algerian market.”

The team in charge of advising Groupe Avril was led by Alain Malek, corporate M&A Partner, assisted by Faiza Saiki, associate.

Other counsel: Groupe Djadi was advised by UGGC law firm
