PARTNER MOVES - Ashurst boosts EMEA disputes offering with hire of new partner in Munich

22 Sep 2022

Global law firm Ashurst announces the appointment of Martin Eimer as a partner in the disputes practice in Munich.

Martin joins from Pinsent Masons where he led the firm's global mass actions & collective redress offering, prior to which he trained and worked at Freshfields. Martin covers a broad spectrum of commercial litigation and arbitration. He has acted on some of the major mass actions in Germany in recent years across a range of sectors. He also has particular expertise in complex, international construction and engineering matters.

Tom Connor, EMEA head of dispute resolution commented that Martin will be a strong addition to the firm's practice. We are delighted to be welcoming Martin to the partnership. Germany is a key jurisdiction for mass actions and Martin brings deep experience in this area, having worked on some of the most high profile mass actions in the German market. Martin's arrival follows on from our recent hires of Nick Mavrakis in Sydney and Nathan Willmott in London and reflects Ashurst's continued strategic focus on expanding our global dispute resolution capability.

Martin is a superb and highly skilled lawyer and we are excited he will be joining our Munich office, head of the German dispute resolution practice Nicolas Nohlen said. His experience across mass actions, together with his construction, engineering and arbitration experience, make him a perfect complement to our team, and we are confident he will play a key role in broadening our client offering in Germany.

Derk Opitz, Munich and Frankfurt office managing partner added that Martin's joining highlights the investment Ashurst continues to make in Germany. Martin's appointment, together with that of Judith Sawang, Florian Drinhausen and Conrad Ruppel in 2021, as well as Matthias Weissinger and Stephan Hennrich, and the promotion of Karsten Raupach to partnership in 2020 demonstrates our growth ambitions in Germany. We have a clear strategy and the appointment of Martin will help to drive this even further forward.

Martin said that he is delighted to be joining Ashurst. The firm's focus on collaboration and delivering excellent services for clients, and its sector expertise, aligns perfectly with my own. I am also a strong proponent of the importance of integrating and leveraging NewLaw into our service delivering and the Ashurst Advance offering is second to none. I am very much looking forward to working with the team in Germany and around the world to grow the disputes offering.
