PARTNER MOVES - Baker Botts Ramps Up Technology Sector Offering in London with New Corporate Partner

22 Sep 2022

Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international technology, energy and life sciences law firm, announced today that David Marshall has joined its London office as a partner in the Corporate Department.

“As we continue to increase the corporate work for our technology sector clients, David’s area of expertise will be instrumental in adding depth to our technology M&A, private equity and emerging companies and venture capital capabilities among the firm’s London, California, New York and Austin offices. Our clients will benefit greatly from David’s experience and broad skill set,” commented Baker Botts Managing Partner John Martin.

“We remain focused on growing our London office, illustrated by the firm’s recent move to new office space at 20 Fenchurch Street. As we continue to ramp up our offering in the technology sector, David’s arrival adds further weight to our London corporate transactional capabilities, particularly in the private equity and venture capital spaces,” said Mark Rowley, Partner-in-Charge of London and the Middle East at Baker Botts.

Mr. Marshall is a Corporate partner with over 20 years of experience across all forms of M&A, with a particular focus on private equity, venture capital and growth capital transactions in the technology sector. He advises investors, management teams, founders, investee companies, family offices, and corporate venture teams at multinationals and development banks. His experience includes buyouts, minority co-investments, early stage funding rounds, bolt-on acquisitions, disposals and portfolio management.

“I am thrilled to be joining Baker Botts at a time when the firm has exciting growth plans. Baker Botts’ focus on clients in the technology sector and its deep expertise in the emerging company and venture capital space make the firm an ideal platform for me to help grow and broaden the firm’s corporate transactional offering in London. I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues across the firm,” commented Mr. Marshall.

The appointment of Mr. Marshall, who joins Baker Botts from Norton Rose Fulbright in London, comes on the heels of the firm’s London office move from 41 Lothbury to 20 Fenchurch Street. Additionally, Baker Botts has carried out a range of strategic moves in its Corporate department in London, promoting Sian Williams to partner, who joined the firm with M&A partner, Nigel Stacey, from Gibson Dunn, and adding corporate TMT partner Stuart Blythe from CMS.
