PARTNER MOVES - Baker McKenzie strengthens dispute resolution practice with key appointments in Colombia

Global law firm Baker McKenzie is pleased to announce the return of María Angélica Burgos de la Ossa as a Dispute Resolution partner in Bogota, and the promotion of Sebastián Quintero to partner within the same practice group.

María Angélica brings more than 17 years of experience in international arbitration and high-stakes dispute resolution, particularly in infrastructure, M&A disputes, international sales and distribution. She joins from Burgos Dispute Resolution, a firm she founded. Prior to private practice, María Angélica was an advisor to the government of Colombia and participated in the negotiation of International Investment Agreements on behalf of Colombia. In this capacity, she also advised on investment dispute prevention and management.

Sebastián's practice focuses on domestic civil and commercial litigation, as well as international commercial arbitration. He has represented major multinationals in international arbitrations, particularly in the infrastructure sector, as well as foreign investors in connection with disputes related to complex acquisitions of Colombian companies.

María Angélica is currently ICC YAAF Representative for Latin America (2024-2026) and a member of the Executive Committee of the Rising Arbitrators Initiative. She is also a member of the Latin American Association of Arbitration (ALARB). She holds an LLM in International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration from New York University School of Law and a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogota. María Angélica is qualified to practice in Colombia.

Sebastián has been consistently recognized by leading legal directories, including Chambers and The Legal 500. He holds an LLM in International and Comparative Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary, University of London and a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogota. Sebastián is qualified to practice in Colombia.
