PARTNER MOVES - Blake Gilson joins Proskauer as structured credit partner

05 Aug 2025

Proskauer announced that Blake Gilson has joined the Firm as a partner in its Structured Credit Group, based in New York.

Blake brings deep experience in structured finance insurance solutions, including rated note feeders, collateralized fund obligations (CFOs), and other vehicles that channel insurance capital into private fund strategies. His practice spans the structuring of hybrid vehicles that combine elements of collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) and rated note feeders, the development of multi-tranche CFOs for both sponsors and insurance investors, and the negotiation of large-scale warehouse facilities supporting private credit platforms.

“Blake helps us to expand our structured credit capabilities, particularly in the insurance-linked and rated product space,” said Firm Chair, Tim Mungovan. “These are fast-moving areas where our clients are innovating and where we’re investing. Blake’s expertise strengthens our ability to deliver integrated solutions across funds and finance and positions us to deepen relationships.”

Blake and Matthew Kerfoot will lead Proskauer’s market leading structured finance insurance solutions practice. Blake will also collaborate with Proskauer’s growing CLO practice to support clients across the structured credit lifecycle.

“Blake’s practice sits at the convergence of funds and finance, exactly where our clients are focused and innovating,” said Justin Breen, co-head of the Global Finance practice. “He has a rare combination of technical fluency, market insight, and structuring creativity, and we are thrilled to have his expertise at Proskauer.”

“I’m excited to join a firm that is committed to investing in and expanding its insurance-linked and structured credit solutions offering,” said Blake. “I look forward to partnering with a top-notch team to build a truly integrated platform.”

Blake received a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University, and his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law.
