In a move that further strengthens its position as one of PitchBook’s top 25 firms advising on venture capital deals, Brown Rudnick announced that David Haber has joined the Firm’s New York office as a partner in the Corporate practice.
Haber brings more than 25 years of experience representing emerging tech companies across the United States and the globe. He focuses his practice on start-up companies, venture capital financings, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
“We are thrilled to add a veteran EC/VC lawyer of David’s caliber to the team,” said Mark Dorff, managing director of Brown Rudnick’s Corporate & Capital Markets Department. “David’s experience, along with his connections to the startup ecosystem – particularly in New York and California as well as the emerging geographies of Florida and Texas – is an excellent fit with us as we continue to grow our pillar practice groups like Tech and enhance our capabilities to better serve clients.”
Haber advises companies and investors through the entire company lifecycle, from seed capital raising to expansion stage financing transactions to multibillion-dollar acquisitions. He most recently was a partner at WilmerHale. Prior to moving to New York, Haber practiced in the Silicon Valley offices of storied Brobeck Phlegher & Harrison and Weil Gotshal & Manges.
“I’m delighted to join the growing Brown Rudnick team, which is already ranked among the top 25 most active firms for venture financings,” Haber said. “I’m excited by the opportunity to contribute to the Firm’s ascension to the top-tier of ‘go-to’ firms for entrepreneurs and investors.”
Haber’s arrival is the latest addition to Brown Rudnick’s Corporate practice, which has added more than 30 lawyers in the last 24 months, kicked off when a five-partner group, led by Scott Smedresman, Dave Sorin and Jared Sorin, joined the New York office in January 2022, enhancing the Firm’s tech offering. In September 2022, a four-partner group led by Stephen Palley joined, catapulting Brown Rudnick to the elite of firms advising on issues related to cryptocurrencies, digital assets and blockchain. In January 2023, a four-lawyer group led by Andrew Sherman and Rod Moss joined the Washington, D.C., office, adding depth to various practice areas, with a focus on domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, emerging companies and franchising.
For nearly 20 years, Haber has served as an adjunct associate professor at Columbia Business School, teaching second-year MBA courses on venture capital investing and entrepreneurial law for startups. Haber received his B.A. and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Arizona.
