PARTNER MOVES - Brown Rudnick is launching Los Angeles Office, taps four-partner team

08 Apr 2025

Brown Rudnick announced it is launching a Los Angeles office and welcoming new partners Daniel Rozansky, Nicholas Rozansky, Jonathan Friedman and John De La Merced.

Collectively, the team brings decades of experience across Brown Rudnick’s core practices, including commercial litigation, brand and reputation management, privacy, mergers and acquisitions, and emerging company/venture capital transactions, all across a variety of industries, including entertainment, media, fashion, technology, real estate and consumer products. The team joins from Stubbs Alderton & Markiles, where Dan Rozansky was co-chair of commercial litigation.

“We are thrilled to welcome this versatile and dynamic team to our firm,” said Vince Guglielmotti, CEO and chairman of Brown Rudnick. “Their arrival underscores our commitment to growing our presence in California and our Global Litigation, Brand and Reputation Management, Technology, Life Sciences and Crisis Management practices. Our new team will help forge a marketing-leading footprint from coast to coast and into London. We also have numerous clients based in LA who have encouraged us to grow our LA presence.”

Brown Rudnick has operated in Southern California for over a decade, with an office in Orange County. The new LA lawyers will complement Brown Rudnick’s Orange County lawyers on litigation, white collar and restructuring.

Dan Rozansky stated: “We’re excited to join Brown Rudnick and lead the firm’s expansion in Los Angeles. Brown Rudnick’s breadth of practice areas and the excellence it delivers is highly compelling to our clients and the LA market in general. We look forward to other top-notch attorneys joining us.”

“Brown Rudnick provides a great opportunity to work with market-leading Litigation and Brand and Reputation Management teams on an international platform,” said Nick Rozansky. “Brown Rudnick’s London office has already begun working with our team’s clients.”

Jonathan Friedman added, “We are thrilled to bring Brown Rudnick’s entrepreneurial spirit to Los Angeles to build out the West Coast corporate team. Los Angeles is a natural extension for Brown Rudnick’s technology and venture capital client base and general corporate practice.”

Dan Rozansky concentrates his litigation practice on entertainment, privacy, First Amendment and complex business and real estate disputes. He counsels a broad array of clients on developing the best strategies to avoid disputes, and aggressively litigates those disputes when they cannot be avoided. Dan has achieved wins in some of Hollywood’s most significant cases in the areas of copyright, trademark, First Amendment, profit participation, licensing, advertising, reality television, right of publicity, right of privacy and breach of implied contract. Dan is recognized as a top entertainment and media litigator by Chambers USA and Variety.

Nick Rozansky litigates high-stakes cases, including partner and shareholder disputes, fraud, trademark and copyright infringement disputes and contract cases. He also handles pre-litigation and litigation matters, risk avoidance, collaboration deals, IP protection and business strategies. Nick represents clients in industries spanning fashion and apparel, jewelry, banking and finance, and consumer products. He also serves as outside general counsel to select mid-market companies.

Jonathan Friedman advises a wide range of public and private clients, including development-stage, emerging-growth and middle-market companies as well as angel investors, venture capital firms and strategic investors on corporate finance, mergers and acquisition, securities law, intellectual property licensing, and general and corporate business matters. Jonathan has represented clients in a wide variety of industries, including digital commerce, apparel, medical devices, entertainment and technology.

John De La Merced has experience encompassing all aspects of the litigation process, including serving as trial counsel. Additionally, John advises clients on pre-litigation strategy, including early mediation and settlement, and develops litigation avoidance strategies that are consistent with his clients’ business objectives. John has helped secure favorable results for clients on matters ranging from a partnership dispute involving a celebrity chef to bet-the-company litigation on behalf of a pharmaceutical development company.
