Burges Salmon has appointed five new partners across key growth areas including real estate, environment, pensions and banking. The five promotions, effective from 1 May 2016, take Burges Salmon to a total of 85 partners and reflect the firm’s work in a number of selected markets where its knowledge, experience and skills deliver highly effective solutions to its clients’ complex needs.

Sally Jupp becomes a partner in the firm’s Real Estate team. She joined the firm in 2003 as a trainee and qualified into the Real Estate department in 2005 where she currently works. Sally specialises in real estate finance and corporate restructuring and insolvency for investment and development lenders.

Susannah Young and Alice Honeywill become partners in the firm’s Pensions team. Susannah joined Burges Salmon as a trainee in 2003 and qualified into the Pensions team in 2005. She has substantial experience in all areas of pensions law, with a particular focus on providing trustees of both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes with clear and user-friendly advice. Alice joined Burges Salmon as a trainee in 2005 and qualified into the Pensions team in 2007. She advises on all aspects of pensions law and helps trustees and employers to run often large and complex pension schemes, covering ongoing compliance, projects and trustee training. She specialises in technical aspects of pensions law and pensions tax.

Simon Tilling becomes a partner in the firm's Projects department. He joined Burges Salmon as a trainee in 2004 and qualified into the Environment team in 2006. Simon advises on all aspects of environmental law including operational compliance, regulatory investigations, appeals and corporate defence. He is an elected council member of the UK Environmental Law Association.

The fifth new partner, Andrew Eaton, is an experienced financial services sector practitioner and joins the firm’s Banking practice in the Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency team, having previously been a partner at Travers Smith.

Burges Salmon’s Managing Partner, Peter Morris, said: “We are very pleased to welcome these five excellent lawyers to the partnership. They will help us to grow a number of areas that are a strategic focus for us.

“Sally, Susannah, Alice and Simon are all highly competent lawyers who we have known for many years. They understand our unique model and collaborative culture, which we believe delivers the best mix of advice, service and value to clients.

“We are also delighted to welcome Andrew to the firm. The skills and expertise that he has built up over the years in this key area will complement and strengthen our Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency team.”
