CMS is pleased to announce the appointment of James Gliddon as a partner in its market leading Finance Disputes team, which services clients out of London, the South West and Scotland. James will be based in the firm’s Bristol office. James previously spent over eight years with CMS and re-joins from Foot Anstey where he was a partner for six years and Head of Banking & Financial Services disputes.
James specialises in banking and financial services litigation. He has extensive experience in advising major retail banks, finance houses, payment services providers, through to international, private and Islamic Finance banks. In recent years, James has supported his financial services clients with injunctive relief (seeking and resisting), complex receivership/insolvency disputes and a range of bribery and corruption investigations - often involving regulatory (and media) scrutiny.
James is ranked in the Legal 500 UK 2025 directory, where his clients comment: “James Gliddon has tremendous experience of handling lender disputes and brings a client friendly and calm head to every case.”
James has chaired the South West Fraud Forum since 2022 and has recently been appointed as Co-Chair of the UK Fraud Forum. Based on his financial services and fraud practice experience, he works with a range of practitioners and regularly engages with policymakers on the development of fraud prevention/response legislation and strategy.
