08 Nov 2024

CMS has strengthened its Infrastructure, Construction and Energy Disputes (ICE Disputes) offering in Scotland with the appointment of Caroline Maciver as partner in its Edinburgh office. Caroline joins the firm from Burness Paull.

Caroline has 20 years’ experience leading on large, complex disputes in the private and public sectors. Her practice includes advising main contractors, developers and housebuilders on a wide range of contract advisory and disputes work, Building Safety Act issues as well as on renewable energy.

Adrian Bell, CMS Partner and Co-Head of the ICE Disputes Practice, comments: I am thrilled to welcome Caroline to our ICE Disputes team. Caroline is highly respected in the market, and her extensive expertise will enhance the strength of our existing practice, enabling us to further expand our presence in Scotland and the UK.

Allan Wernham, Managing Director of CMS Scotland, says: “I am pleased to welcome Caroline to our Edinburgh office. Her appointment underscores our commitment to expanding our market-leading practice. Caroline brings with her a wealth of expertise and will be a fantastic addition to our team.”

CMS's leading ICE Disputes practice has been recognised with top rankings in the latest edition of the Chambers and Partners legal directory. The team provides expert advice to clients in the infrastructure, construction, and energy sectors, including contractors, consultants, developers, and energy and power companies.

Caroline adds: “I am excited to join CMS and be part of a collaborative and dynamic team with strong growth ambitions. I look forward to contributing to the team’s success and leveraging my extensive experience in the sector to support these ambitions.”

This is the latest high-profile appointment for the CMS ICE Disputes Practice in Scotland, following the addition of heavyweight partner Fenella Mason, who also joined the firm in September 2023 from Burness Paull.
