Dentons announces that Jackson Hwu has joined the Firm’s Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies practice. Resident in the Miami office, Hwu advises high-potential start-ups, emerging growth companies and VC funds with a focus on Brazil and Latin America. The continued expansion of the Miami office aligns with the region’s historic legacy as the gateway to Latin America as well as a growing center of national venture finance.
Hwu will be a leader in Dentons' Global Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies Latin America practice. As outside general counsel to numerous emerging companies, Hwu leverages his transactional practice to counsel clients on various legal aspects of their operations. His experience spans venture finance, M&A, commercial and governance matters. He also guides international companies in establishing their operations in the US market. Hwu has been involved in some of the highest-profile VC financing and M&A transactions involving Latin American and South Florida-based tech companies and VC funds in the past decade and has been a part of the establishment and growth of Miami as a tech center.

Hwu also has experience advising family office and private wealth clients, offering guidance to international clients on a spectrum of matters including fund formation and doing business and investments in the US and Latin America. Additionally, he represents fund managers, sponsors and investment groups in the establishment of various investment vehicles, including venture capital funds, real estate private funds and club deal structures.
